NEBRASKA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESOURCE SITE |
Domestic Violence |
Background: I want to say a few words about this section of the Nebraskans for Family Web Site. There has historically been loads of contention between various domestic violence groups and this organization. There have even been personal attacks. Ex wives have been contacted, private investigators hired, authorities contacted. In one case the State Police were contacted to report links to pornographic sites on the groups forum. This was very helpful as it alerted us to the fact that spammers had hacked the site. It was also very entertaining to the investigator who finally told me who had filed the complaint. We don't take these things personally. There are a number of organizations out there who survive solely on grant money. When that flow of money is threatened then we should expect a fight. There are lots of people out there who would not normally be able to make a living without federal grants such as those generated as a result of VAWA. If someone were to threaten your job, you too would put up a fight. Members...Don't read too much into this resistance. Just follow the dollars and understand who is behind it and why. Fathers' Rights of Nebraska Position on Domestic Violence: Honestly. Who is going to say that it is ok to beat your partner. We aren't! When domestic abuse/violence actually occurs, it is a horrible thing. It has a chilling effect on the victim and on children if any are present. Lets make it clear. Violence is bad regardless of who perpetrates and who is victimized. There is overwhelming evidence that some of the commonly cited statistics are exaggerated and that men and women are basically equal when it comes to abusing. We will provide links to that evidence on this site. In addition, there is some really alarming information about the frequency of domestic violence in gay and in particular in lesbian relationships. Disclaimer: Nebraskans for Family has provided the information on this site for informational purposes only and said information in no way replaces the advice of an attorney. Ongoing Project: We are attempting to provide a resource for men who are victims of partner violence. This topic has received an amazing amount of attention around the country lately and as a result appears on an incredible number of web sites and in countless recent publications. The resources on our site will continue to grow on a daily basis, so please come back soon if you don't find the information that you need on your first visit. |
